Astilbe (False Spirea)
Astilbe are nice upright compact plants with plumes of blossoms from early - mid summer. Plant Astilbe in part shade - full shade, keep evenly moist, they do not like to dry out. Great for perennial borders, woodland gardens or near ponds and streams, plant in groups for a more dramatic effect. Blooms make excellent fresh-cut flowers, and are great for drying. As an added bonus Astilbe are deer and rabbit resistant.
